This course encompasses the skills and knowledge necessary for the safe operation of a 4WD vehicle across various conditions, adhering to the applicable state/territory legislated roads, traffic license requirements, and Company Policies.
The curriculum covers activities such as driving a 4WD vehicle on roads, navigating gradients, ascending and descending steep slopes and manoeuvring in rugged terrain. Additionally, participants will learn to utilise vehicle equipment and controls effectively and perform thorough pre- and post-operational checks.

Our driver training instructors are also able to travel anywhere in Australia, to your location, to teach this course. - Online self-paced study
- Online assessment

- Hands-on lessons and assessment driving a 4WD vehicle

- Legal requirements and company procedure/policy – land access
- Prestart/post operational checks – load security/fault finding
- Defensive driving techniques – night driving/wet roads/animals/environmental impacts
- Four-wheel drive systems
- Journey management – fatigue/communication
- Off road driving techniques – terrain/sand/mud
- On/off road driving techniques – hazard identification

TLIC0023 – Practical Component
On the TLIC0023 4WD course you will have 4 hours of practical training in a 4WD vehicle covering the following lessons:
- Prestart/post operational checks – load security/fault repair
- Journey management
- Driving on public and unsealed roads – emergency braking/cornering/adherence to road rules/company policy and procedure
- Negotiating various terrain – up/down steep slopes, across side slopes
- Fitting and use of chains – only where required/company policy
- Monitoring environmental impacts
- Complete stall recovery – forwards and reverse
