Course Description:
In this driver training course you will gain the knowledge and skills needed to prepare and operate vehicles, and related equipment, in order to drive across a variety of terrains. This course applies to drivers who are required to perform a daily check of their vehicle for damage, ensure that fuels and lubricant levels are maintained, effect minor repairs, prepare and maintain field equipment, and communicate with their base station.

This driving training course is delivered over one 8-hour day

The PMASUP236 four wheel drive driver training consists of:
- 2 hours of lessons in the classroom
- 1 hour written exam
- 4 hours of practical lessons in a 4WD.

On the PMASUP236 driver training you will be participate in 4 hours of practical training in a 4WD vehicle covering the following areas:
- Prestart checks, load security, fault repair
- Wheel change
- How to hitch and unhitch a trailer
- Jump starting a vehicle
- Driving on public roads
- Driving on unsealed roads – emergency braking
- Off road driving – use of high and low 4×4, hazard awareness
- Vehicle recovery – snatch strap and winching techniques
